Saibaba:

Incarnation of Lord Dattatreya-presiding deity of Shirdi. He is the one, millions of people turn to when in need. The story of the film revolves around his childhood and talks up to Mahasamadhi. Miracles are known to happen every day in the lives of his devotees.

Dasaganu:

A very angry policeman-who refused to believe Baba’s greatness. He fought against Baba in the open courtroom that was created by the magistrate. The film shows how he becomes Baba’s devotee-and how he went on to compose bhajans singing praises of Baba . His bhajans are sung to this day by millions of people.

Wales:

A representative of the British Empire. He is credited with clicking the only photograph of Baba standing against the wall. He too used to openly accuse Baba of being a fraud before finally realizing his mistake.

Sandeham:

An assistant to Wales.

Mahalsapathi:

One of the most important devotees of Sai Baba-he is

the one who welcomed Baba to Shirdi. He is the pujari of the local temple in Shirdi-of the Lord Khandoba. He is also credited with being the first one to call him “Baba”.

Booti:

The millionaire devotee of Baba who is credited with constructing the temple of Shirdi Sai baba.

Nayak:

He is the animal seller who sells animals to the villain Bhatia.

Radhakrishnamai:

a great devotee of Lord Krishna. She is always dressed like Mirabai. She also openly challenges Baba and demands to know why the masjid was called “Dwarakamai”. She also becomes one of Baba’s most important devotees. She is credited with setting up all the rituals and ceremonies at Shirdi which are being followed to this day.

Nanavali:

The eccentric “mad man”-shunned by the villagers-who openly criticized Baba and abused him. The film unravels the reasons behind his behavior and what becomes of him.

Gangabai:

an old lady who knew Baba when he was a kid-and used to feed him rotis. She witnesses a miracle-which no one has seen-and reveals it at the right time to the non-believers of Baba.

Baayijabai:

she was another important devotee-who used to address Baba affectionately as “brother”. She knew Baba was not eating properly and used to walk miles every day searching for him-so that she could feed him. Baba used to accept her food and in turn-treats her as his own sister-and her son, as his nephew.

S. Taatya:

From the young boy who never believed in Baba-to turning into the staunch devotee who stayed with Baba right till the end-Taatya’s life goes through many twists and turns. Baba spoke about their relationship as having stretched over 72 previous births.

Lakshmi bai:

The lady used to cook for Baba and maintain the masjid. Baba was so pleased with her services that he gifted her 9 silver coins at the time of his death. The coins signifying nine types of devotion.

Nana Chandorkar:

The magistrate who decides to come to Shirdi to try a case against Baba-was already a devotee of Baba. He recollects how Baba blessed his family by saving two lives at one go.

Bhatia:

The villain of the story, a non-believer of Baba’s greatness. He fights against Baba throughout. Later he realizes his mistakes and repents falling at Baba’s feet and asking for his forgiveness.

Appoo and Dappoo:

Bhatia’s sidekicks, who followed suit. Even they realize the greatness of Baba in the end and beg him for his forgiveness.

Mahanthi:

Bhatia’s wife. She was tired of her husband’s tirade against Baba. She finally manages to knock some sense in to her husband and is happy to see him as Baba’s devotee.

Chand Patil:

A muslim traveler who was searching for his lost horse. He meets Baba on the way and finds his horse with Baba’s divine blessings. He could be credited with bringing back Baba to Shirdi after many years.

Venkusa:

The man who Baba acknowledged as his guru. He taught Baba when he was a kid. He had also saved the young Baba from the wrath of his jealous fellow students.

Edward:

A Briton, the collector of the district of Ahmednagar who sees Baba’s greatness due to a shocking incident which opens the eyes of many.
